Maxim MAX17083 step-down Built-boost switching regulator

Maxim Integrated Products introduced the built-boost switch, low voltage, the buck regulator MAX17083. The devices are designed for space-constrained applications, in the tiny 16mm2 TQFN package integrates a dual n-channel MOSFET power switch. Internal 25mΩ, low-side power MOSFET can provide up to 5A of continuous load current, to ensure high efficiency and reduced component count.

MAX17083 no external Schottky diode and the external boost diode, further saving space and cost. This small step-down regulator is ideal for ultra-mobile PC (UMPC), netbooks, portable game consoles and other compact, low-power applications.

MAX17083 current-mode, fixed frequency control to provide easy-to-build, and will not affect the transient response of the structure. The architecture also provides peak current limit protection, and can work in pulse-skipping mode to maintain high efficiency at light loads.

Which step-down regulator from 3.3V or 5V system input power produces 0.75V to 2.7V and adjustable output voltage. Device provides a space-saving 4mm × 4mm, 24-pin TQFN package, work in -40 ℃ to +85 ℃ extended temperature range. Prices start at $ 2.75 (1000 up, FOB USA). Evaluation kit is available and recommended external components to reduce design time.
